Raging Hormones and Candy

That time of the year is right around the corner.  Valentine's Day.  It is probably the most repulsing, irritating holiday of the year.  Who can honestly say they had a good Valentine's Day experience?  Probably some people, but the majority would say they enjoyed February 14th when they were in elementary school.  Everyone was everyone's valentine in elementary.  I remember getting little cute valentines that our parents bought at Walmart.  My favorite were the valentines that had Mickey and Minnie Mouse on them.  That couple modeled true love for children nationally and internationally.
By the time middle school rolled around, everyone hated each other.  Male and female disgusted by one another, but mostly females hating females with drama.  However, by 8th grade is when hormones start developing, and cooties seem to just magically go away.  So you would occasionally see couples walking through the halls holding hands.  This would last for about 8 days.

For some odd reason I signed up to teach high school.  The only thing that scares me about going back to that mad house is to deal with raging hormones.  Where boys are girl's reason for living, and girls are boy's reason to...but the college life is a hit or miss.  It annoys me when I see post on Facebook and Twitter or hear females explain how they are here at college to find their husbands.  What is really annoying is #TeamSingle #SingleGirlProbs #ForeverAlone.  STOP.  If you don't find someone in college that doesn't mean you are forever alone.  I know I will be seeing these tweets more next week.  This holiday shouldn't be the only time that love and affection is shown to people.  It should be everyday.  That's probably way I dislike this holiday so much.  Although, I can understand for people who are in a relationship, engaged, or married will make a big deal out of it.  Just don't forget to show the same passion that was expressed on Valentine's Day to express it every day.

So after this long-winded post, I guess I'm trying to say- Happy Black History Month.
